Mission Statement
The Membership Committee is
dedicated to the recruitment of new members into the Illinois Section American
Water Works Association and retention of current members by educating potential
and existing members of the benefits of joining the organization.
Goals
1.
Develop
strategies to increase retention as determined by the Membership Committee to
maximize the current and future membership base by tracking retention rates and
making regular contact with existing members through the use of the trustees.
2.
Identify
critical recruitment target audiences and increase recruitment as determined by
the Membership Committee and use marketing abilities of the national AWWA
Membership Committee to assist with this goal.
3.
Define
the value of membership and active participation in the Association.
4.
Communicate,
promote, and reinforce the value of membership and involvement to utilities,
manufacturers, consultants, contractors, operators, students and other key
decision makers in the water community.
5.
Create
and support recruitment and retention programs that further enhance membership
diversity by using marketing abilities of the national AWWA Membership
Committee to assist with this goal.
Volunteer
requirements: in person meetings up to 2x times per
year, conference calls up to once per month (12x times per year), help
staff Membership booth at state wide shows (five shows per year average),
travel to membership conferences to represent the section and gain knowledge
about AWWA Membership.
** It is understood that
participation is voluntary and meeting attendance is not necessarily an
indication of level of commitment. However, participation is encouraged as we
do not want a “committee in name” only.
